Liposuction Cosmetic Surgery

The purpose of liposuction cosmetic surgery is to remove excess fatty tissue from body and to improve the contours of your body.

If you any of the following apply to you, then you are a good candidate for liposuction cosmetic surgery…

-You have excess fat areas in the neck, arms, back, breasts, ankles, calves, thighs, saddlebags, love handles, hips, buttocks or stomach.
-You have areas of fatty deposits that aren’t in proportion with the remainder of your body, and that don’t go away even after exercise and diet. This is also known as diet resistant fat.
-You have areas with a minimum amount of excess skin, and good elasticity, since liposuction does not remove skin along with the fat.

If you decide to go ahead with having liposuction surgery, then the first step is to find yourself a plastic surgeon. They will then discuss the procedure with you, ask what look you would like to achieve, and tell you how close to that look surgery will be able to take you. There is no need to hold back or feel shy during this consultation, in fact, the more frank and honest you are, the more likely you are to be pleased with the end results.

You will want to make note of prior surgeries, medical conditions you have now, or that you have had before, along with any medications and allergies. Be sure to provide complete information, since some conditions can affect your eligibility for surgery.

So, should be eligible, and have found a surgeon that you are happy with, then the next step is to familiarize yourself with how liposuction cosmetic surgery actually works. Basically, what happens is that a tube, or canula, is inserted into the areas of your body where fat has deposited itself, so that a pump can be used to create a vacuum that allows the fatty tissues to literally be sucked out of you. There are some slight variations to this method though, which may be used depending on your particular circumstances, and the specific expertise of the surgeon that you have chosen.

You do not need to overly concern yourself with the various different methods of liposuction though, as your surgeon will, having advised you and listened to your feedback, make the final decision. They will have performed liposuction many times before, so you can rest assured that they will know exactly what will be right for you.

Once the surgery has been performed, which generally takes a few hours at most, you will need to rest and recuperate for a period of about ten days. There are generally no complications with the procedure, as it is one of the most common ones that plastic surgeons perform, and so no follow up operations should be necessary.

The results of your liposuction usually last for a long period of time, however, the healing process can be gradual, so it may take several months for you to notice the full effects of your surgery. The incisions used for inserting the canula will fade over a period of a few months, and will usually become barely visible.

The Liposuction Procedure Clarified

Even though it is a relatively new procedure, liposuction has become the most common cosmetic procedure performed. And, if you thought that it was something that only women have done, as a type of weight-loss technique, then you would be wrong.

The increase in the number of men having these surgeries performed is surprising. While it is not intended as a diet solution or alternative, liposuction can certainly help remove fat deposits and tone your body.

This popular procedure does not necessarily have to be performed at a hospital or surgery center, as it can also be done at the doctor’s office. Naturally there are pros and cons related to both locations. Normally, only a small volume procedure will be performed as an out patient basis due to the cost. If a larger volume of fat needs to be removed or if this is being done in conjunction with other procedures, then your doctor will speak with you about the options available to you and together you will make an informed decision.

Plastic surgeons or even dermatologists perform many of these liposuction procedures. Keep in mind that any licensed physician may perform the operation, as no standardized training is required. As a result of this there will be differences in experience and training.

You may want to consider asking the physician you have chosen how many times he or she has performed this type of operation and whether or not they have had any specialized training in this field. Just because it is elective surgery does not mean that it is any less serious than any other type of invasive surgery.

Many times after a large weight loss you are left with excess skin. This stretched skin may also be a result of pregnancy. One popular procedure to correct this is the liposuction tummy tuck (also known as abdominoplasty).

Once childbearing is over you may opt to have this done. However, if there is a chance you may want to become pregnant again, then you will need to wait, as liposuction that has already been done may separate again, as well as the possibility of restricting fetal growth.

As with many other procedures, liposuction is not completely pain or discomfort free. Experiencing pain after surgery is common. There is also a possibility of drainage from the incisions after liposuction, but these are normal, and if necessary your doctor may insert a drainage tube to avoid the build-up of fluid.

By following your doctor’s advice you will have a better chance of getting through it with as little discomfort as possible. Remember to ask your doctor any questions you may have prior to the procedure so that everything is understood. And try not to be too impatient while waiting to see the results, as liposuction recovery means different things to different people.

Liposuction: Solving Turkey Neck Syndrome

The gentle slope of the neck and jaw line is an attractive feature in both men and women. Unfortunately, genetics or the process of aging can cause the skin below the neck and chin to droop or look too full. Recent weight loss and loosened muscles are some of the other factors that contribute to the sagging neck portion. Exercise and work out will not help you banish this excess skin. One of the most effective options to banish the sag is liposuction. It can permanently turn your turkey neck into a swan neck.

During the procedure a small incision is made behind the ears and underneath the chin. A hollow tube is inserted into the skin and the excess fat cells are sucked out. The procedure takes about 30 minutes.

Pain and discomfort are normally mild and dissipate in a few days. You will be sent home with the area dressed and bandaged. After four to five days, regular hygienic and shaving practices can be resumed and within one to two weeks patients can return to all regular activity. After the surgery expect some swelling and bruising. Your neck and chin may be discolored, but after a week you may use makeup to cover any residual bruising.

Depending on the individual, it might be necessary to combine liposuction with another procedure in order to produce optimal results. A neck lift is often combined with liposuction, which helps remove sagging skin and tightens the muscles underneath. The incisions are made in the same area, but the procedure can last anywhere from one to two hours. Some people may elect to undergo a full facelift at the same time. The recovery time is significantly longer for it than just liposuction alone. Patients may have to stay overnight at the hospital after surgery, and it can take up to two weeks for the swelling and discomfort to subside. Expect to feel tight around the neck for a few weeks and to take it easy for over a week post operatively. You will have to return to the surgeon for stitch removal a week after the procedure, whereas with liposuction, the stitches dissolve on their own.

The biggest benefit of liposuction is that fat will never accumulate in the area treated again. If you had a combined lift and fat removal, the skin may need to be retightened over time. The results should last for many years if you remain in good shape and maintain healthy habits.

Consult with a skilled surgeon about what options would work best for your neck contouring surgery. Remember that even if a surgeon makes suggestion for a lift in addition to liposuction, it is ultimately your choice. You should undergo the procedures that are comfortable and appealing to you. Follow all pre and post-operative instructions, including quitting smoking as soon as possible before your surgery. Complete rest and proper nutrition helps in healing up quickly and shows good results. With proper preparation, your contour procedure will be smoother and you’ll increase your chances of a speedy recovery.

Liposuction before and after : Psychological Impact on patients

Surgeons must usually conduct an initial consultation to determine which patients would suffer psychologically from the liposuction surgery.Surgeons will be able to deduce whether or not a patient will be satisfied with the results of the liposuction procedure. A doctor’s intuition may be able to save some patients from having bad psychological outcomes.

Getting a liposuction procedure performed can prove stressful for many patients and they may experience both physical and psychological stress.Patients will have difficulty adjusting to the change their liposuction surgery brings, because the operation can significantly change their body image. The postoperative adjustment period will be long and difficult for many liposuction patients.Postoperative depression is another psychological aspect of liposuction cosmetic surgery. After the surgical procedure, patients may experience mild feelings of unhappiness, but sometimes this depression can be more severe. Postoperative depression can last from a few days to several weeks in some patients. Liposuction post depression can be caused by stress, exhaustion, metabolic changes, or the frustration of not seeing immediate results. Patients who were stressed before the liposuction surgery or those that have a history of depression are the most vulnerable to postoperative depression.

Some patients may also encounter a decreased sense of self-image following the surgery, which is usually caused by criticism. Having liposuction cosmetic surgery can elicit criticism from family and friends, which is not all positive. These criticisms can cause patients to look at their body in a demeaning manner. Some may also experience a decreased feeling of self worth as some friends may deem them as frivolous for having the surgery. Patients will then question their reasons for wanting the liposuction procedure, and may question their image of themselves.

Usually a patient undergoes a major look transformation and need counselling to deal with this. A lot of changes in look may happen, some of the examples of look are shown here: Liposuction before and after

Liposuction 104: How To Minimize The Risks And Possible Complications

You should also learn how to disclose your entire medical history to your doctor and discuss all prescription and over-the-counter medications you take on a regular basis. Patients should fully understand what is involved in this procedure. Patient should always follow their cosmetic surgeon’s instructions for surgical preparation and postoperative care up to the time of their full recovery.
To maximize the success of liposuction surgery, it is extremely important to choose a cosmetic surgeon who will clearly and thoroughly explain potential liposuction side effects and risks. He or she should also have proper and extensive training, along with state-of-the-art facilities and a good standing in the field. Do not be contented that you got the lowest price for your surgery because you might end up spending more for another surgery.
In order to minimize such surgical complications and the side effects of overexposure to anesthesia, patients should schedule multiple liposuction procedures at least several days apart. You should also be honest to your surgeon regarding smoking, drinking alcohol and taking in of aspirins. Those three could bring a lot of complications such as excessive bleeding if you weren’t able to stop few weeks before your surgery.
The most vital dangers of liposuction include risks associated with removing too much fat from targeted areas at once, as well as having too much liposuction performed in a single day. Excessive liposuction can cause problems including dents, lumps, and sagging skin.
Complications of liposuction usually includes infection, extended healing time, allergic reaction to medication or anesthesia, fat or blood clots – clots can migrate to the lungs and lead to death, excessive fluid loss – fluid loss can lead to shock and, in some cases, death, fluid accumulation, friction burns, damage to the skin or nerves and even damage to vital organs.
Non-life-threatening liposuction complications include bruising, scars, a lumpy appearance, sagging or discolored skin, focal skin necrosis, fainting after surgery, numbness, and non-lethal drug interactions. All liposuction problems should be discussed with your doctor, as some may become serious if left untreated.
All cosmetic surgery, including liposuction, is not without its risks. They are quite rare, however, it you should still be aware of this before going ahead. Some common dangers of liposuction include infection, a reaction to the anesthesia, blood clotting, and fluid loss. Less severe liposuction risks include bruises and scars, a numbing of the skin, and moderate problems such as changes in skin pigmentation.

Wide Awake Liposuction

“When I was a medical student I became so fascinated with liposuction that I decided to have the procedure done during my plastic surgery rotation. As I was going under anesthesia I started to get very scared. Next thing I remembered I was waking up in a recovery room sick to my stomach and throwing up. I was in severe pain for one week. Afterward, when I thought that it had all been worth it, I noticed the suctioned area was uneven,” Dr Simoni recalls. “Some of my faith in liposuction was restored when I first learned about wide awake liposuction in my surgical training. But what really amazed me was the VASER Liposelection® procedure.”
Imagine you could lie comfortably on a bed without any anesthesia and lose those fat pockets in just a few hours. Using a new ultrasound technology, called VASER Lipo, the fat can be gently melted away leaving a smooth end result. Amazingly you can walk home right after liposuction and return to work a day or two after.

In the wide awake technique, very small instruments are used. This permits a more delicate and gentle approach to liposuction. Since the patient is awake during the procedure he or she can stand up so the body can be sculpted more accurately. “By mixing wide awake liposuction and the benefits of VASER Lipo technology, we are able to combine safety and better results,” Dr Simoni explains.

VASER LipoSelection uses the gentle power of ultrasound to remove unwanted fat without damaging surrounding tissues—such as nerves, blood vessels and connective tissue— to promote smooth contours and rapid healing. The trauma that the traditional liposuction inflicts on nerves and blood vessels is the main cause of pain and bruising. The selective action of the VASER Lipo System minimizes pain and bruising, and thus decreases downtime. Since the fat is first softened by gentle ultrasonic waves, the end result is smooth and predictable.

“VASER Lipo is different from previous ultrasonic fat removal technologies in its efficacy and gentleness,” Dr Simoni explains. “I looked into other new techniques such as laser and mesotherapy, but I feel VASER technology is superior in its efficiency and end results. That is why I chose to incorporate VASER Lipo into my practice.”

“There are many occasions that I wished I could go back in time,” said Dr Simoni. “My liposuction experience is definitely one of those times. To do it over again, I would have been treated with VASER Lipo while wide awake.”

New Age Liposuction" />
by Pulpolux !!!

Smartlipo ? New Age Liposuction

SmartLipo is the new age liposuction: liposuction with fewer side effects and less recovery time than the conventional liposuction, and which requires a really minute incision. The procedure is best for individuals who have not responded to workouts and diet control therapies.

Besides being FDA approved, this liposuction procedure has the distinction of being the first to be laser assisted. SmartLipo promises successful fat removal, body toning and skin tightening for people of different body types. Body areas that can be treated by this process include the chin, hips, upper arms, male breasts, knees, face, arms, abdomen, back and neck.

The Procedure

The physician introduces a tiny tube (cannula) in which a laser fiber of low energy is contained, straight into the targeted fat deposit. The tube, with a diameter between 1 and 2mm is passed into a minute skin incision. The minuteness of the incision means that no sutures are required to close it once the procedure is over. Through back and forth movement of the cannula, the energy of the laser reaches the fat cells making them rupture and effortlessly drain away, while the surrounding tissue is unaffected. The laser keeps bleeding, bruising and swelling to a minimum as it causes immediate coagulation of little blood vessels on contact.

Is SmartLipo For You?

You could be a suitable candidate for SmartLipo if you:

• Are healthy
• Do regular exercise
• Have local body fat deposits that refuse to leave despite consistent physical exercise and weight watching

The Downside

One downside of SmartLipo is that is intended to do away with only a small amount of fat (around 8 pounds). Another reason to reconsider SmartLipo treatment would be the high cost. SmartLipo, being a cosmetic technique, is not covered by insurance.

Outlook

The downsides regarding a SmartLipo session are few in comparison to the benefits. There are several instances of people who have had the procedure done and impressed by the results, have requested treatment of other areas.

Male Cosmetic Surgery: Liposuction For Men

Women has always been associated with cosmetic surgery, however nowadays men are also taking the benefit of cosmetic surgery especially liposuction for men. Other than liposuction for men, there are also tummy tucks, nose jobs and Botox for men.

Nevertheless, the middle-aged flabbiness can hit anyone, be it female or male. Statistically, men spent more time just sitting in front of the tv watching football games gulping down beer and spent less time exercising at gyms or at salad bars. When men move toward the middle age, they will bear the accumulation of fat deposits and it is just the fat deposits is very tricky to remove.

The Much Hated Love Handles
Among the worst problem spots on a man’s body is the “love handles”. Love handles are areas of fat deposits that build up around a man’s belly. Maybe the man’s wife of girlfriend may joke about the love handles them being adorable, however let us face the truth, they would prefer you to lose those fat deposits.

Basically, most middle age men are disturbed by the love handles. The most important cause is that love handles are a dead giveaway that shows a man are very much middle-aged. An effective method to remove the love handles is Liposuction, regardless of a man’s age. Liposuction is a small procedure for a cosmetic plastic surgeon to perform. The hardest part is to make sure that the fat deposits never come back again. After the surgery, suitable exercise and diet are highly recommended, however if both the exercise and diet fails, then liposuction is an alternative to remove the love handles and it can be repeated whenever you require it.

The Man Boobs
Man boobs can be really embarrassing to a man. Men may grow breasts at any point of time in their lives, right from the teenage years up to the retirement age. Man boobs is a general problem and it will keep a man from taking off his shirt while his holiday to the beach. Liposuction surgery can aim for areas of your body where you require it most. The cosmetic surgeon can get rid of fatty tissue surrounding your breasts and will not upset your muscles or other parts of your body. Man boobs are fat that will least likely to ever come back again.

Men’s Facial Rejuvenation
Among the most famous usage of Liposuction for both women and men is facial rejuvenation. In facial rejuvenation process, there will be some removal of a person’s droopy jowls, a person’s too-big nose or the fullness of a person’s lips. Some minor Liposuction will be able to rectify these conditions according to a person’s needs and for men these removal is among the most famous usage of Liposuction. When a man thinks that he is looking older, a facial rejuvenation will provide him with a younger and healthier appearance.

Liposuction for men is an uncomplicated procedure that all cosmetic plastic surgeon can perform. They are many benefits associated with liposuction especially with Tumescent Liposuction. Among them are speedy recover and less painful procedure. So, if you are man who have the above problems and having trouble to solve them, then Liposuction is the choice you should think of.

Learn More About Liposuction

There is no shame in wanting a trim and toned body, but if you have been following a carefully controlled diet as well as slogging it out in the gym and all to no avail, you may feel like you have ran out of options.

If despite your best efforts you find that exercises do not help to reduce your problem areas then it may be worth considering liposuction and body shaping surgery.

Liposuction is a procedure which is widely used to improve your body shape by removing unwanted fat from specific areas of the body. As your body grows older you are more likely to store fat in specific areas and despite vigorous exercise and dieting it is sometimes too difficult to shift this excess weight.

Parts of the body that are commonly affected include the stomach, thighs and hips; however, the flexibility of liposuction allows you to target areas specific to your body and its shape.

Liposuction is a procedure that was developed to help individuals remove unwanted fat from the specific areas that cannot be improved with diet and exercise. By removing excess fat you can essentially shape your body in order to help you feel more comfortable in your own skin, and overall feel more confident about your appearance.

If you are thinking about having liposuction then the first thing you should do is choose a surgeon and organisation where you want to have the procedure carried out. As you would with any other medical process, do a little bit of homework first of all and make sure you feel comfortable with your choice.

Location is a key factor to consider at this point, as you don’t want to travel a long distance or overseas for any surgery unless you are completely comfortable with the follow-up arrangements. It’s best to use a surgeon located within a relatively close proximity so aftercare can be easily organised.

The next step is to go along for a consultation where you can discuss the areas you want to target and what results you expect from the procedure. Talking these details through gives you a realistic idea of what is actually possible as it’s important to ensure you are completely happy with the procedure and outcome before you make the final decision.

Once you have decided to go ahead with liposuction you need to schedule in a date for the procedure to take place. It makes sense to do this at a time where other things in life are at a constant, so it’s best to not schedule your liposuction when you’re doing things such as caring for a new baby, changing job or moving house.

Being able to focus all your efforts on the liposuction procedure and recuperation afterwards means your recovery will be quicker.

Have You Considered Having Liposuction Cosmetic Surgery?

The purpose of liposuction cosmetic surgery is to remove excess fatty tissue from body and to improve the contours of your body.

So, who exactly is a good candidate for liposuction cosmetic surgery? Well, you are, if any of the following apply to you…

-Your fatty tissues are not around areas where you have excess, sagging skin – skin elasticity being important since liposuction only removes fat and not skin.

It is best to thoroughly prepare yourself for your consultation with your chosen plastic surgeon. Take with you details of your past medical history, and make a note of any medications you have taken, or are taking, and of any allergies that you have. This is important as it some cases your eligibility for surgery may be compromised by your current health or past medical procedures that you have undergone.

Some slight scaring may initially be visible but, over the course of a few months, this will fade to the extent that is barely visible.
